About us

Our IT solutions have their roots at Sweden’s largest medical university, Karolinska Institutet, and in several large EU projects to optimize the way data is administrated in complex biobank projects. We offer international scalability on demand.

Our mission is to enable research organizations to benefit from cutting edge information technology and to create cost-efficient and flexible solutions for the administration of research data.

We are targeting customers in Sweden and internationally. The background of VizzDAT is the world of biobanking. Our team possesses a wide range of expertise and combined nearly 60 years of experience in the intersection between medical research and modern data technology, from Sweden and internationally. Identified best practices have led to the development of VizzDAT’s IT platform; a comprehensive and integrated service benefitting organizations across various fields, e.g. Healthcare & Pharmaceutical, Environmental, Food & Beverages, Process & Chemical etc.
We use open source technologies such as node.js and Python as a basis for our services, which we view as a great advantage for our customers guaranteeing reliability, transparency, superior security and cost efficiency to mention a few.

Management Team

Prof. Jan-Eric Litton

Chairman of the Board

Jan-Eric is renowned for his expertise in biobanking and leadership in large-scale projects. He has been involved in several large EU projects in medicine including the BiobankCloud – Scalable, Secure Storage of Biobank Data and was the Director General of EUs largest infrastructure in Health; BBMRI-ERIC 2014-2017. Prof. Litton was the co-director for the Swedish LifeGene initiative at Karolinska Institutet.

Loreana Norlin

CEO and co-founder

Loreana has an MSc in Molecular Biotechnology from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden and has spent more than ten years working within the biobank field at Karolinska Institutet (KI). Her strenghts include client management, business development, sample handling and IT. Her background also includes working internationally as a technical consultant for one of the world's leading LIMS companies.

Jesper Lind

CTO, Data scientist and co-founder

Jesper has a PhD in BioPhysics from Stockholm University and an MSc in Chemical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden. He has spent over ten years within the pharmaceutical- and biobank-field as a scientist, system developer and project leader. He possesses great experience in data analysis and visualisation as well as system development and architecture aimed for research and sample data collection.

José Tapia

José has an MSc in Mathematics from Stockholm University and an MSc in Medical Informatics from Karolinska Institutet (KI). He has spent over ten years within the biobank field and medical research as a data scientist, system developer and SCRUM master at Karolinska Institutet. He has a great experience in data analysis, biostatistics, analysis and modelling of dynamic mathematical models in systems biology and system development

Niklas Malmqvist

Niklas has an MSc in Bioinformatics Engineering from Uppsala university, Sweden. He has spent ten years working as a software engineer both in the biobank field and the private sector. He has experience in designing and building robust, high-performance applications for both businesses, public sector and the consumer market in the role as developer, tech lead and SCRUM master.”

VizzDAT AB works in compliance with laws and regulations relating to the Swedish healthcare system and hence we follow the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In order to use VizzDAT’s services, you must give your consent that your personal information may be stored in our databases. Only authorized healthcare professionals or researchers may access your personal information. You can at any time withdraw your consent that your personal information is saved or request amendments; in such case please contact the responsible healthcare staff/researcher or our customer service at +46(0)709 60 77 79. Due to privacy and data protection regulations we do not communicate personal data over open email.
We only collect necessary device information from our users in order to customize our services for the best possible user experience.

Mobile Applications - Privacy Policy

The VizzDAT mobile applications are developed as a support tool for dedicated research groups and require user registration either with a valid email address or a valid user id which is only used for identification in the systems. Other registration information such as name and country residence of associated organization is optional and is not used in the system or passed to any third party. User actions such as moving logistic units or storing samples are logged automatically for system security reasons. Collected data (e.g. logistic data or survey responses) is handled by corresponding research group. Stored data is never shared with any other partner than the registrated research group. The applications do not collect mobile device information such as IP addresses, geo location data or device ID. Stored data can be discussed and removed either by direct contact with the designated research group or contact mediated by VizzDAT via info@vizzdat.com All data handling is compliant with GDPR regulations.

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.
